  • Winter is synonymous with flu and cold season. Practice good hand-washing hygiene to avoid picking up viral illnesses from friends, family, and co-Workers.
  • Get your annual Flu shot. Contact your gynecologist/ physician
  • If you do get cold/ nasal block, use saline nasal drops to start with. Avoid using antibiotics & self medication. Consult your Gynecologist.
  • Winter can bring about seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or “winter blues”. It makes u feel low, lack of energy & crave for sugary foods & gain weight.

Tips to avoid “ SAD “

  • Stay active, venture out in sunlight when its available
  • Interact more with family, friends
  • Avoid sugary foods like cakes, cookies > basically less carbohydrate
  • Do something you enjoy

NUTRITION

  • Nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining health during pregnancy.
  • Focus on eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to keep your body nourished.
  • Drink of plenty of water/ liquids to avoid dehydration, urinary infections & dry skin.
  • Take Vit C & Vit D enriched foods. Vit C rich sources like amla, oranges, broccoli, kiwi , banana & strawberry

SKIN CARE

  • Skin tends to go dry & irritable in winter. Your stretch marks might start to itch.
  • When selecting skincare products, avoid those with retinoids, parabens, or phthalates, as they can be harmful during pregnancy. Stick to natural, gentle formulations.
  • Preferably use cream-based moisturisers that are designed for dry winter skin. Hydrating body oils and pregnancy-safe balms can also provide deep moisture.
